Yay a fun finish to report! For Monday Makers! #38 I started a pillow project, and finally got it finished :) I did this guy a bit differently than the tutorial - I used a 20" pillow form instead of stuffing it, and I quilted the legs instead of stuffing them. It turned out pretty cute! I did have problems with the leather nose, but you can't really notice unless you get up really close to that area - and who gets that close to a polar bear's nose? ;) This is a new-to-me project that's also a Christmas gift :D
For next week's Monday Makers! I plan on getting this project done - a drawstring gift bag (top) (that rattail is red, not orange :D) and a zipper pouch (bottom) - these are 2 pieces of a gift set I'm making for a June birthday.
These are the scraps I picked for a strawberry pouch - I'm going to make a 9 patch block for the front with the 2 strawberry prints, and the pink gingham is for the back (I haven't picked the lining yet). I have strawberry charms to use for the zipper pull ;)
These projects are being posted to the following linky parties:
Monday Makers! #40 (the pillow and strawberry bags)
Celtic Thistle Stitches New to Me for May (the polar bear pillow - and wow it was easy to make!)

Ho Ho Ho and On We Sew for May (the pillow)
Dear Sandra,
ReplyDeletethe pillow is a great idea. I love the polar bear look :-)
Greetings Angie
Love you pillow - he looks great in the photos. I still haven't made a zipper pouch yet - I love your fabric pull for it!
ReplyDeleteLove your stuffie, he is sooooo cute! Clever using the pillow form, it works perfectly! Thanks for the Mountain Mist tip, I'll look for that next trip to Joann's! Have a great day! Hugs, Mickie
ReplyDeleteThat guy is a cutie. I get the changes you made--nice. I went to look at the pattern which is great, but, as always, I was also thinking of ways I would change things. Being too lazy to sew the head on by hand, I will probably try to come up with a plan to avoid that part! Ummm, hate to mention it, but I don't see any ribbon on that project. It does look like a guy bear, so maybe I'll let you get away with it.
ReplyDeleteMy little people would love your polar bear pillow. They have pillow pets that they just love. Great idea to add a pillow form instead of stuffing and also quilting the legs. Same outcome, but much less work. His little face is SO cute. The only person to get up close and personal will be the new owner and they will LOVE him.
ReplyDeleteHe is adorable! But you are wrong, most people want to rub noses with a polar bear, you just haven't asked the right people...
ReplyDeleteVery cute. Thanks for linking up :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I imagine that my nephew would like something like this... of course, I'm not sure that I'm up for making it for him :) I love how you're always rotating in different things that you are making, because it helps give me ideas too :)
ReplyDeleteYour polar bear is adorable! He'll be a fab Christmas gift :)
ReplyDeleteCuteness! Love the bear and love that strawberry fabric! You are a busy busy girl :)
