I reinstalled Irfanview ...

I'm not sure if it was causing my weird photo problems, but if it was, this may have fixed the problem :)

Here are some recent finishes:

2 golf bag sets, each set consisting of a zippy and a boxy bag.  One of the boxy bags has a minor "imperfection" so that set will be going to the counselling centre, while the other set is for my favourite client :D  These still need zipper pulls :)

A few more zippy bag finishes - the batiky blue/green bag is a prism bag with a boxed bottom, and the panty bag has a row of pom pom trim on it - ever so cute :)  The round bottom bag is from Skip to My Lou :)

UFO finish #7 of 7 in the PhD Challenge I've been working on - I beat the deadline by a few days, wooooohoooooooooo!!  This scrap quilt finished to about 54" x 72" and will be donated to a local shelter with the other 6 I completed :)

PhD #'s 4-6 :)

I don't think I posted these when they were completed - one was done last month, two this month.  Only 1 more to go, and then I'll have done all 7 UFO's I signed up for in Myra's PhD Challenge, YAY!  These are all "empty the scrap bin and use up stash" quilts, backed with polar fleece (mostly freecycled fleece blankets), and will be donated to a nearby shelter.

I should have shaken out the wrinkles on this one - I found it in the spare bedroom thrown on the floor in a pile of stuff :D  54" x 72" (approx.)

Still wet from being washed!  54" x 72" (approx.)

Also 54" x 72" (approx.), and also wet from being washed :)

Here's #7, the last one that needs to be finished by June 30 - I'll start working on it this week :)  That burgundy fleece is a blanket that I received on freecycle - it's the perfect colour to use for the backing :D

PhD #3 of 7 completed :)

3 down, 4 to go!  Here's quilt #3 of my PhD (projects half done) completion request - being modelled by DS1 (he apparently needed a nap after a hard day @ tradeschool, LOL).

A close-up of the baseball fabric in the alternate blocks - you can't tell from the picture, but the lump is the cat ... HA!!  He loves my quilts, lol.

The blocks are mile-a-minute scrap blocks - they measure 9" finished, and the quilt is birthed with a "Berber" type fleecy backing in denim blue.  The quilt measures 54" x 72" :)

PhD #3 under construction :)

Here's the PhD (project half done) that I'm currently working on - this is #3 of 7 for me - I call it the baseball quilt because the alternate blocks are golf fabric! ;)

Here's a snowman book thong I made today - you'd think that a snowman bead would be orange/black/white but no - these snowman beads have yellow noses, lol.  So - I used yellow/black/white beads to match :)

 A close-up of the snowman beads :)
30's print gift bag - made to use up this scrap of fabric that was given to me by a friend :)

Strings and lighthouses :)

Completion #2 (of 7) for the PhD Challenge @ Myra's blog - Nick is holding it up for me, lol.
Here's Nick posing under the quilt for a "reality shot" - you can see the turquoisey blue fleece backing just behind his head :)  I see Zoomer also decided he should be in both photos, LOL!  This quilt measures 54 x 72", and will be donated to a local shelter.

Last finish of the day - a couple of lighthouse zipper bags (thanks Susan in KC for the fabric!) that will go to Blue Hills for a couple of the boys :)  I'm finally using up my small stash of carabiners - soon I'll need to find and buy more of them - I love adding them to the bags for a bit of bling!

Some littlies and a biggy :)

Here are 2 more rainbow gift bags made for my favourite customer ;)  I'm now out of the royal blue rattail cording so I'm going to try a Pink Penguin fabric basket with the same fabrics - I think they'd make really cute gift baskets :)

And here we have a pencil case from stash leftovers, and a flannel zippy bag also from stash leftovers - these will go to Blue Hills for the kids.

The big news is that I finished my second PHD quilt tonight - it's in the washer right now but I'll have to wait until tomorrow to get a picture - it's just too dark at this time of the night - I'd like one of the kids to hold it for me outside in the sunshine :D  The first person to comment and pick a number from 1-5 will decide which PHD I'm working on next :D

Burgundy day :D

Today's finishes - the last of the projects I had kitted up a while back - I'm glad to be finished using that red brocadey type fabric (the bottom bags) as it shreds like crazy, and I don't have a serger!

I also got a bit more work done on my current PhD (a string quilt), kitted up more projects, and made half a dozen string blocks for yet another scrap-buster string quilt - I usually have at least one of these underway, lol.  I managed to kill my second Shark iron - the first one, a really fancy one bought for me by my oldest son, lasted a year, and this one, a mid-line Shark, also only lasted a year.  I iron a LOT!  I guess I just wear them out - imagine!

Happy Birthday Nick!

Happy birthday, shorty!  Love you! Here he is @ The Keg last year on his birthday - those are some sexy boxer shorts I bought him, LOL.  We'll be going to the same restaurant tonight - it's his and my favorite place to dine fine :D

I've started working on my second PHD for Myra's challenge (see link at right) - I had 7 phd's to finish by June 30, finished the first one last week, and am now working on #2 - Small String.  It currently measures 48X54" and I want to enlarge it to 54X72.  I've already made the extra blocks I needed, so I'm going to start putting it together today.  This will be birthed and tied like project #1 :)

Here's the Patchyapple boxy bag I just completed - it's part of a travel gift set, and I'll get it mailed to the recipient this coming week :)
It measures 10" long x 5" tall X 4" deep - it turned out pretty damn good, if I do say so myself!   I have one more little item planned for this set, but the "hardware" is coming from China and it hasn't arrived yet - I'll mail it separately :D

A finished UFO and some littlies :)

My first UFO finish in Myra's PHD challenge - our oldest son's girlfriend is hiding under the quilt while Zoomer looks on, LOL.  This measures about 54X72, and is backed with a soft fluffy turquoisey fleece.  All the buttons (stitched to the intersections for quilting) are blue :)  6 more quilts to finish by June 30!

A pair of pillowcases I made for a local counselling centre - I need to make 14 by the beginning of December, and I have 4 done now.

2 lined gift bags completed for Christmas :)

First UFO almost finished :)

At the beginning of the year I joined a ufo completion challenge at Myra's blog, at which time I committed to completing 7 PHD's (projects half done) by June 30 :)  I picked 7 scrap quilt flimsies that have been sitting in a cabinet in my craft room for several years.  They're certainly not keeping anybody warm in my cupboard!  Today I got the quilt birthed with some turquoisey blue fleece, and tomorrow I'll start sewing stash buttons onto the block intersections (I think it will take 35 buttons) - then PHD #1 - 54" x 72" - will be completed :)  Thanks for the kick in the pants, Myra!

PhD Challenge :D

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and a fun and safe New Year! I've been sick with a cold so have been out of it for the last week, lol. Today was pretty much the first day I've been out and about since Christmas - we spent the day with hubby's family for a magnificent dinner (OMG the food! THE FOOD!!!!), and had a wonderful visit with his family.

I found a stack of quilt tops in my sewing cabinet that are only keeping the sewing room dust bunnies warm, so I decided to get off my butt and get some old projects done this year.  To that end, I joined a PhD (projects half done) Challenge with Myra and a bunch of ladies - here's the first PhD's I need to get completed.  I have until June 30 to get these done, so I need to concentrate and git'r'done!
